about — Hana Yoo

Hana Yoo explores collective anxiety and transcendental experiences shaped by extreme polarisation and othering. Through multimedia installation, film and performance, she reimagines the psychopolitical landscape with a real-life, parodic form of storytelling.

Yoo studied Media Art at the Berlin University of Arts and holds fellowships at the Junge Akademie, Akademie der Künste and BPA//Berlin Program for Artists. Her recent projects have been presented at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin, 2025), the 38th transmediale festival at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin, 2025), and the Sungkok Art Museum × Busan Museum of Art (Seoul, 2025). In 2022, she received the Berlin Art Prize. ︎

유하나는 양극화와 타자화에서 비롯된 집단적 불안과 초월적 경험에 대한 관심으로 작업을 이어나가고 있다. 실험영상과 설치를 기반으로 현실을 패러디한 형태의 스토리텔링을 통해 심리-정치적 풍경을 조사하고 전복한다. 작업은 개인전 엘보룸 (아쿠드갤러리, 베를린, 2022), 챔버 (탈영역 우정국, 서울, 2021), 히스테릭 C (디스쿠어스 베를린, 2020), 단체전 쿤스트베어케(KW) 베를린 (2025), 제 38회 트렌스메디알레: 세계문화의집(베를린, 2025), 성곡미술관x부산시립미술관 (서울, 2025)을 포함 여러 곳에서 전시되었다. 2022년에는 베를린 아트 프라이즈를 수상하였으며, 현재 베를린과 서울을 기반으로 활동 중이다.
